Adoption agencies in British Columbia facilitate both local and international adoptions. They are all licensed by the Provincial Government and provide adoption services throughout British Columbia.
In local adoption, the role of a BC adoption agency is to help adopting parents and birth parents find each other in a way that is safe and considers the wishes of those involved, as well as to prepare all parties for adoption.
In international adoptions, the agency’s role is to help parents meet the Provincial requirements and the requirements of the country they are adopting from, as well as preparing the prospective adoptive parents for adoption. More than ever, adoption is governed by international agreements and adoption conventions.
