ABOUT US:
We're Alejandro and Shanna, a loving couple excited to start our journey as adoptive parents. We met through Ultimate Frisbee and quickly bonded over our shared values, sense of humour, and passion for life.
Our Careers: Alejandro is a Software Engineer who uses his problem-solving skills to create innovative solutions. Shanna is a Community Engagement and Events Coordinator working for a National non-profit.
Education: Alejandro holds an Engineering Degree, and Shanna has a College Degree.
Our Relationship: We have been together since 2013 and married since 2019. We have built a strong foundation of love, trust, and respect. We're excited to grow our family and share our passions with a child.
In our free time, we love to get out and explore! Whether it's a spontaneous road trip into the wilderness or a flight to discover new cultures, we're always up for an adventure. We also make time for family game nights, playing video games or board games. When we're not travelling or gaming, you can find Shanna pushing her limits as a tri-athlete or Alejandro hitting the trails for a 10 km run.
As we look to the future, we envision our child growing up in a loving and supportive home surrounded by opportunities for growth, exploration, and discovery. We're excited to share our passions with them, from trying new foods and exploring different cultures to enjoying the great outdoors. We aim to provide a nurturing environment where they can thrive and reach their full potential.
ABOUT OUR FAMILY:
Family is at the heart of everything we do, and we are fortunate to have a large, loving family that spans the globe.
Alejandro has three brothers, a father, and a large extended family in Spain and Venezuela. Shanna's family includes her mum and dad, and a vast extended family in Australia and Ontario. We celebrate a vibrant mix of cultures and traditions, and our family is excited to welcome a new member.
Evee and Echo are our two energetic dogs. Evee is 7, and Echo is 6. Both are heeler mixes. They're an integral part of our family and are always up for an adventure and a cuddle.
Alejandro was born in Venezuela and moved to Canada as a child. He is bilingual, speaking Spanish and English fluently. Shanna has Australian roots on her mother's side and is proud of her diverse family background.
Alejandro finds it challenging to choose between Spain, where most of his family resides, and Japan, with its incredible culture. Shanna loves coastal destinations where she can surf and enjoy the beach. Together, we have fun wherever we are.
Our weekends blend relaxation, adventure, and getting things done. We enjoy outdoor sunny hikes, snowy mountain skis, or rainy-day walks. Essentials like groceries and chores are prioritized but become enjoyable when shared. Embracing structure and flexibility, we find a rhythm that makes our weekends right.
We are excited to share our lives, adventures, and love with a child and to create new memories and traditions.
OUR HOME & COMMUNITY:
We live in a 2-bedroom condo near a large park with youth sports and an extensive trail for bike rides and runs. Our neighbourhood is diverse, welcoming, and filled with families and young professionals.
We're within walking distance of a new community centre, farmer's markets, and community events like festivals and parades. We love our urban location with easy access to parks, restaurants, and local shops.
OPENNESS:
Openness means building a lifelong relationship with you and your child. We believe every individual's story is unique and deserves respect and honour. We want to create a space to share our lives, traditions, and values while respecting the boundaries and needs of all parties involved.
We envision an open adoption where we can maintain regular communication through phone calls, video chats, emails, or in-person visits. We're committed to updating you on your child's milestones, achievements, and challenges.
We understand that relationships evolve, and we're flexible and willing to adapt to changing circumstances. We aim to prioritize your child's best interests and nurture a connection that brings joy and fulfillment to all parties involved.
