Gordon and Renée
OUR PROMISE TO YOU:
We want you to know that, if chosen, we will give the child a life filled with love, stability and belonging. Our home will be a place where they will always feel safe to be themselves - where they can learn, grow, make mistakes and know that they are loved and accepted exactly as they are.
We promise that this child will be surrounded by warmth, encouragement, patience, and support. We will explore nature together, laugh often, make memories, and create a childhood filled with wonder and joy. We will celebrate their strengths, support them through challenges, and help them build confidence as they discover the world around them.
We also promise to honor you. We are committed to communicating in whatever way and whatever frequency feels comfortable for you. This child will grow up knowing their story - where they come from, the love that brought them into the world, and the courage behind your decisions. We will always speak of you with respect and gratitude.
ABOUT US:
Renée has always had a passion for working with children, which led her to earn a degree in Child and Youth Care followed by a degree in Education. She now works as an elementary school teacher, a role she loves and finds deeply meaningful. Outside of teaching, Renée enjoys reading, watercolour painting, trying new recipes, doing word searches, and taking photos of all the hikes her and Gordon go on.
Gordon works in railway track maintenance, a reliable and steady career that suits his calm and thoughtful personality. He is someone who loves to understand how things work - whether he's building computers, working on the car, or completing a challenging puzzle. He also enjoys reading and is always curious to learn new things.
We met near the end of 2020 and got married in 2023. Because we started our relationship during COVID, many of our early dates took place outdoors. Through that time, we discovered a shared love for hiking and spent that first year exploring as many trails as we could. We both love to travel and have visited Uganda, Paris, Mexico and many towns/cities across British Columbia. Volunteering is a meaningful part of our life together - we serve in our church and this summer participated in a missions trip where we helped build a home for a family. Together we love to go paddleboarding, cycling, build Lego sets, watch sports and read.

ABOUT OUR FAMILY:
Gordon is the second oldest of four siblings. All of his brothers and sister are married with children, giving us five nephews and five nieces (through both adoption and birth) who bring lots of laughter and energy to family gatherings. Gordon's parents are active and involved in our lives; they are often our cycling partners. Gordon's family background is British, German and Scottish.
Renée is the oldest of two and has one younger sister who is still looking for her partner in life. Renee's parents live about 45 minutes away, but despite the distance, we stay closely connected and visit often. Renee's family is Indian; her parents were raised in Fiji and immigrated to Canada with Renée when she was 10 months old. Her sister is the only one born in Canada. Her cultural roots are an important part of her family identity.
Both of our families are close-knit and stay connected through group chats. A child joining our family would be welcomed by a large, loving, supportive circle on both sides.
Our weekends are often spent with family/friends - sharing meals, watching sports, playing games or going for walks. We also attend church on Sunday mornings, then spend the rest of the day relaxing together by reading or watching a movie before starting a new week. In the summer, we go to the family cabin as much as possible where we love being on the lake paddleboarding.

OUR HOME & COMMUNITY:
We live in and own a beautiful two-story home in a rural-suburban community. From our home, we have a stunning view of the surrounding mountains and can see both the sunrise and the sunset. Our yard offers space to play, and we're also close to parks with plenty of room to run and great playgrounds. Our neighbourhood is diverse and we're close to all the essentials.
We also have a wonderful church community that has become a circle of close friends. Through it, we've connected with families who have adopted and have found encouragement, understanding and support.

OPENNESS:
It's important to us that a child feels connected to their history and understands where they come from. Knowing about their birth family and background can help them develop a clearer sense of identity and build a trusting bond with us. We know that openness can look different for everyone, and we are happy to have conversations about whatever you feel comfortable with. Our hope is to create a relationship that honors your feelings and ensures the child always knows their story and that they are loved.
