OUR PROMISE TO YOU:
We will make sure your child knows their background, their birth story, and how they came to us.
Our promise to you is that your child is in a safe, nurturing, home filled with warmth, joy, and laughter.
We also promise to raise your child in a stable and Christ-centered home.
ABOUT US:
Rick works as a parts advisor at a dealership in our local community. He has enjoyed being there for 5 years. Prior to that he worked as an Information Systems Manager, but decided to change careers to allow for a better work / life balance. He also has started a business on the side selling car detailing products, which he enjoys.
Prior to being a stay at home mom, Jaclyn had been working seasonal in a local tree nursery.
As for education, Rick has a degree in computer information systems. Jaclyn has studied and earned her care aide certificate after highschool and has worked as a care aid for 15+ years.
We have been married for 9 years already. We met at a retreat for singles, dated long distance for 2 years, and have been married since 2016.
Adoption to us means creating an open relationship with the birth parents, if they choose, knowing where the child comes from, and their history.
We would love for our children to excel in school, graduate from highschool and maybe go on to college/university, if that is what they wish to pursue. We would encourage them to excel in all aspects of life, whether it be jobs early on in life, or careers after highschool, sports, also in church life.
ABOUT OUR FAMILY:
Our little family includes Nathaniel, a curious and fun loving 2 and a half year old.
Our extended families are big, on both sides of the family. Jaclyn comes from a family of 5 siblings, all of whom are married. 3 couples have kids. Rick comes from a family of 6, all of whom are married with children. Between the 2 of us, we currently have 41 nieces/nephews; some of his nieces/nephews have kids of their own.
Both of us come from a Dutch background. We would love to take our children on a trip to the Holland/Netherlands area and to show them where Rick's parents were born and Jaclyn's grandparents have grown up.
Our lives have been surrounded by adoption. We both have extended family members who have adopted; Rick's brother and wife have adopted 4 children. We also have several friends in our church community who have adopted or fostered children.
Our family traditions include family dinners with either side of the family, and getting together for Christmas and birthdays.
OUR HOME & COMMUNITY:
Our home is in Northern BC, surrounded by multiple mountains. Our home is on 5 acres of land, overlooking the mountains. We have a fenced yard where our dogs and child can run around. We have fruit trees and plan to build a garden in the near future. We can see raising our children here for many years, LORD willing.
Our rural neighbourhood is quite spread out and includes several senior couples with dogs and horses. We don't have many neighbours with children, but within our church and family community there are lots of kids to play with. We are also near the town pool and rec center.
OPENNESS:
We will honor your level of openness, whatever that might look like: cards and/letters from your child, visits, phone calls, etc. We would be willing and able to have an ongoing relationship with you, if you choose.
We believe openness is not only healthy for you but also for your child; knowing who their birth parent(s) are, to have contact with you. We will talk to your child about you and will try to answer whatever questions they may have of you.
We will welcome you with open arms. Whatever openness you are comfortable with, we will respect.
